After 17 minutes, Travis Coleman mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Thurmaston City and the Chingford City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jonathon Barnes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chingford City. When Gerry Greenfield came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Chingford City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerry Greenfield couldn't finish the play. After 26 minutes, Nathanial Dunning mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Thurmaston City and the Chingford City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nathanial Dunning kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Tony Beardsley hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Thurmaston City's Jonathon Barnes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicky Edwards in the 31st minute of play. Nicky Edwards might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jonathon Barnes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Nicky Edwards ran back to his position shaking his head. Nicky Edwards sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 45th minute the ball was on its way in behind Thurmaston City's goalkeeper Jonathon Barnes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 47 minutes into the match, Thurmaston City's goal looked a bit too open when Nicky Edwards came free, but Jonathon Barnes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Devon Chiverton stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Thurmaston City getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Martyn Watts hit a great ball. 58 minutes into the match, Chingford City's Rory Darnbrooke broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Travis Coleman in the 61st minute of play forced Chingford City's goalkeeper Dom Downes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dom Penn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Chingford City booed when Thurmaston City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Bzeu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nicky Edwards sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gerry Greenfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathon Barnes having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Thurmaston City's zone, Gerry Greenfield stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathon Barnes came out of the goal and Gerry Greenfield tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicky Edwards received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Jonathon Barnes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 79th minute, Chingford City's Gerry Greenfield ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathon Barnes. Jonathon Barnes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-1. Jonathon Barnes made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Nicky Edwards sent off a good shot on target. Nicky Edwards recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ronnie Holt's late challenge caught a Thurmaston City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronnie Holt helped the player get up and apologised. In the 97thth minute of the game Devon Chiverton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chingford City's Dom Downes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 98th minute, Gerry Greenfield managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chingford City's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerry Greenfield was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonathon Barnes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thurmaston City succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Chingford City had controlled the match.
