The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Barney Singleton was out of position in the 8 minute of play, and Gerry Greenfield capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gerry Greenfield really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nicky Edwards got free with Barney Singleton in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Billie Corbridge had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Chingford City's Gerry Greenfield in the 25th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Barney Singleton was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for 419 OBI FC through an amazing save. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Gerry Greenfield managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chingford City's supporters rose to their feet, but Gerry Greenfield was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Barney Singleton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 28 minutes into the match, 419 OBI FC's goalkeeper Barney Singleton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicky Edwards. If Gerry Greenfield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gerry Greenfield was extremely unlucky when he, in the 42nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Gerry Greenfield sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in 419 OBI FC's zone, Nicky Edwards stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Barney Singleton came out of the goal and Nicky Edwards tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Gerry Greenfield made the kick off in the second half. After 52 played minutes 419 OBI FC got a freekick which was hit by Tom Hird. 419 OBI FC's Barney Singleton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rory Darnbrooke in the 52nd minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, 419 OBI FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nicky Edwards came free, but Barney Singleton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nicky Edwards sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gerry Greenfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Barney Singleton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lloyd Turk kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Rory Darnbrooke was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 63rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Barney Singleton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gerry Greenfield, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Barney Singleton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicky Edwards in the 67th minute of play. Barney Singleton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gerry Greenfield in the 70th minute of the match. Barney Singleton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicky Edwards, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, 419 OBI FC's goal looked a bit too open when Gerry Greenfield came free, but Barney Singleton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the 419 OBI FC defense, Gerry Greenfield kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Barney Singleton. The 419 OBI FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Barney Singleton should have stopped the shot. Barney Singleton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gerry Greenfield, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicky Edwards in the 86th minute of play forced 419 OBI FC's goalkeeper Barney Singleton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 419 OBI FC's Barney Singleton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gerry Greenfield in the 88th minute of play. In the 90th minute Nicky Edwards shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Barney Singleton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gerry Greenfield fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barney Singleton having to interfere. When Chingford City's Gerry Greenfield in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye 419 OBI FC's goalie prevented a goal. When the referee ended the match the Chingford City players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
