Spectators: 7506 (Terracing: 5630, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 150) In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Widnes's goalkeeper Gordon Naylor, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gordon Naylor stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Greg Clough's shot from short distance in the 8th minute. 11 minutes into the match, Greg Clough had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gordon Naylor. Widnes's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Greg Clough was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. George Scargill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Roger Blacksmith tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Scargill in the 16th minute of play forced Pinebrook AFC's goalkeeper Roger Blacksmith to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ash Watson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gordon Naylor having to interfere. Jerome Hoult received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Gordon Naylor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Dom Brearley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dom Brearley who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 27thth minute tested the skills of Roger Blacksmith when he managed to save the team from getting behind. When George Scargill came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Widnes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that George Scargill couldn't finish the play. Jerome Hoult fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gordon Naylor having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. George Scargill was the one to do the kick off. Ash Watson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dom Brearley's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Roger Blacksmith read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. Roger Blacksmith took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Scargill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gordon Naylor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerome Hoult in the 72nd minute of the match. Jerome Hoult received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Gordon Naylor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pinebrook AFC's Jerome Hoult got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Jerome Hoult kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gordon Naylor. That made the score 0-2 in the 80 minute of play. 87 minutes into the game, Widnes's George Scargill nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Roger Blacksmith made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 93rd minute, Oliver Knight hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pinebrook AFC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
