Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Potato Chasers's Martin Trueman started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Devon Cousens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominic Kellaway in the 5th minute of play. Pierce Carter charged in rather forcefully in the 9th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pierce Carter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Martin Crichton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Devon Cousens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Dan Laycock came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Potato Chasers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dan Laycock couldn't finish the play. Devon Cousens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominic Kellaway in the 42nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Dan Laycock in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ronnie Rayner saved Ashton-in-Makerfield City from getting behind. After 47 played minutes Potato Chasers got a freekick which was hit by Eddie Patton. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dominic Kellaway to strike the kick off in the second half. Martin Crichton might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Devon Cousens. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Martin Crichton ran back to his position shaking his head. 66 minutes into the match, Dominic Kellaway had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Devon Cousens. Potato Chasers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dominic Kellaway was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. Devon Cousens didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Martin Crichton went, in the 70th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Potato Chasers's Devon Cousens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominic Kellaway in the 86th minute of play. 89 minutes into the match, Martin Crichton had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Devon Cousens. Potato Chasers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Martin Crichton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Devon Cousens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominic Kellaway in the 93rd minute of play. When the referee ended the match the Ashton-in-Makerfield City players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
