Stevie Perryman came out of the goal and Graeme Shakespeare tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the HEELABY defense, Trev Gower kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gav Ferdinand. The HEELABY fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gav Ferdinand should have stopped the shot. Gav Ferdinand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Devon Carey-Bertram in the 19th minute of play. The referee showed Sam Watkinson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 48th minute, Sam Watkinson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After the first half Stanford le Hope United were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 54th minute, Stanford le Hope United's Wally Beaumont ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gav Ferdinand. Gav Ferdinand yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. In the 57th minute, Devon Carey-Bertram got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 63 minutes into the match, HEELABY's goalkeeper Gav Ferdinand had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Devon Carey-Bertram. Trev Gower could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Gav Ferdinand made a huge save. 67 minutes into the match, Stanford le Hope United's goal looked a bit too open when Graeme Shakespeare came free, but Stevie Perryman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 69th match minute, Stanford le Hope United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronnie Hall to maneuver through the defense. Wally Beaumont who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 82ndth minute tested the skills of Gav Ferdinand when he managed to save the team from getting behind. HEELABY's Gav Ferdinand proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save HEELABY from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Stanford le Hope United's Oliver Featherstone got a free kick in the 87th minute. Stevie Perryman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leo Thompson in the 87th minute of play. If Devon Carey-Bertram had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stevie Perryman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Jeffrey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stanford le Hope United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
