Zaq Bull started the match with the kick off. If Alistair Vine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Leon Hampton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Bob Floyd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Curtis Peake got free with Bob Floyd in the 8th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alistair Vine struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Terry Winfield didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Warwick FC. Terry Winfield showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zaq Bull, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. In the 12th match minute, St Mirren was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Lindley to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Zaq Bull got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Curtis Peake had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Warwick FC's zone, Leon Hampton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bob Floyd came out of the goal and Leon Hampton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zaq Bull's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Terry Winfield read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 24th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Hampton in the 25th minute of play forced Warwick FC's goalkeeper Bob Floyd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Curtis Peake sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Graeme Banks fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terry Winfield having to interfere. Sid West charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sid West the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Warwick FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Sid West hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leon Hampton in the 42nd minute of play forced Warwick FC's goalkeeper Bob Floyd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Warwick FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Leon Hampton 44 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Leon Hampton was the one to do the kick off. Johnny Parkin hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. After 54 minutes Warwick FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Casey Talbot who took care of the corner kick. In the 58th minute, Zaq Bull fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Terry Winfield, passed just outside the right post. In the 61st minute, Christopher Strickland left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The St Mirren fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Alistair Vine fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terry Winfield having to interfere. Terry Winfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaq Bull in the 67th minute of play. Bob Floyd didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Leon Hampton went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. 77 minutes into the match, St Mirren's Leon Hampton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bob Floyd narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 78th minute, Kirk Milner hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Derek Perryman's late challenge caught a Warwick FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Derek Perryman helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Warwick FC getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Stuart Laverick hit a great ball. If Curtis Peake had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute, Ozzy Griggs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The St Mirren fans cheered their team off the field, for while Warwick FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
