After 12 played minutes, Dover's Huey Cryer shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Vernon Longstaffe came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Dover reached it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Donald Davenport in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vernon Longstaffe saved Stonehouse from getting behind. In the 48th minute, Lance Almond ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vernon Longstaffe was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Donald Davenport stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Dover's Dion Brewer got a free kick in the 57th minute. Lance Almond who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 62ndth minute tested the skills of Vernon Longstaffe when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Lance Almond took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vernon Longstaffe. Vernon Longstaffe dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. Lance Almond who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Vernon Longstaffe when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Vernon Longstaffe showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Donald Davenport, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Donald Davenport managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dover's supporters rose to their feet, but Donald Davenport was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vernon Longstaffe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vernon Longstaffe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donald Davenport in the 86th minute of play. In the 88th minute, Dover's Donald Davenport ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vernon Longstaffe. Vernon Longstaffe yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-5. Donald Davenport received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Vernon Longstaffe came out and tried to block the shot, but Donald Davenport slotted it home off the left post making it 0-6 in the 95th minute.
