Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Chip Aiston kicked off to start the match. Chip Aiston took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Sam Lynam. Sam Lynam dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Sam Lynam took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Casey Tolley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 13 minutes, Casey Tolley made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Herne Hill's Sam Lynam tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Harvey Talbot fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johnny Gray having to interfere. After 22 played minutes, Herne Hill's Lennie Knight shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Johnny Gray came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Herne Hill reached it. After 25 played minutes Hobbiton Athletic got a freekick which was hit by Alfred Cornish. Tris Waterhouse received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Johnny Gray tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfred Cornish during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Hobbiton Athletic's Alfred Cornish got a free kick in the 33rd minute. 0-4 became the score in the 42nd minute when Chip Aiston elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Chip Aiston had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Casey Tolley managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hobbiton Athletic's supporters rose to their feet, but Casey Tolley was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sam Lynam breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Harvey Talbot made a kick off. Johnny Gray showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tris Waterhouse, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After a defensive mix-up in Hobbiton Athletic's zone, Harvey Talbot stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Johnny Gray came out of the goal and Harvey Talbot tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tris Waterhouse took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Johnny Gray. Johnny Gray dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. 67 minutes into the game, Casey Tolley recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Sam Lynam. Casey Tolley showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-5. In the 71st minute, Ray Bowler hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 73rd minute, Chip Aiston fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Sam Lynam, passed just outside the right post. In the 82nd of the match, Chip Aiston tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Sam Lynam got in the way and made a wonderful save. If Daryl Myers had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Harvey Talbot sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Hobbiton Athletic eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
