Matty Howard came out of the goal and Rob Woodier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 18 played minutes Topsham got a freekick which was hit by Romeo Bacon. Matty Howard made an important save on a dangerous shot by Kurt Waple in the 24th minute. Dominik Sandell charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dominik Sandell the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Husbands Bosworth FC's Dominik Sandell got a free kick in the 29th minute. In the 32nd minute, Topsham's Rob Woodier ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Matty Howard. Matty Howard yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Bruce Knightley's late challenge caught a Topsham's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bruce Knightley helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Husbands Bosworth FC's Bruce Knightley got a free kick in the 38th minute. Seb Faulkner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stewart Cook having to interfere. Stewart Cook showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Hilton, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. A collision led to Husbands Bosworth FC getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Carlton Moxon hit a great ball. 47 minutes into the match, Topsham's Geoff Cryan broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Rob Woodier was the one to do the kick off. If Don Hilton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matty Howard came out of the goal and Rob Woodier tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Kurt Waple sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 62 minutes into the match, Rob Woodier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Matty Howard. Husbands Bosworth FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rob Woodier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 65th minute, Ted Hitchcock hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stewart Cook made an important save on a dangerous shot by Don Hilton in the 67th minute. Don Hilton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Stewart Cook tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Kurt Waple managed to get in a good position for a shot. Topsham's supporters rose to their feet, but Kurt Waple was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matty Howard breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Matty Howard took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rob Woodier, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kurt Waple in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matty Howard prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Don Hilton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Topsham's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
