Archie Proctor blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Max Griggs having to make a save. If Verne Canning had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Max Griggs showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Archie Proctor, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Tod White hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Archie Proctor received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. In the 37thth minute of the game Archie Proctor who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Plumstead's Max Griggs was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Max Griggs stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Archie Proctor's shot from short distance in the 39th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Ethan Boyd managed to get in a good position for a shot. Plumstead's supporters rose to their feet, but Ethan Boyd was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephen Lovell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Plumstead's Max Griggs played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andre Mannell in the 43rd minute of play. 46 minutes into the match, Rainhill's goalkeeper Stephen Lovell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Verne Canning. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Archie Proctor made the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andre Mannell got free with Max Griggs in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 54th match minute, Plumstead was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tod White to maneuver through the defense. Andre Mannell's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 56thth minute, Max Griggs skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 57 minutes into the match, Plumstead's goal looked a bit too open when Archie Proctor came free, but Max Griggs reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Max Griggs acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 62nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Frankie Beverley. The crowd rose to their feet as Rainhill's Archie Proctor slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Max Griggs. That made the score 0-1 after 67 minutes of play. When Andre Mannell came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Rainhill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Andre Mannell couldn't finish the play. Andre Mannells short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Max Griggs to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Plumstead's goalkeeper Max Griggs, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A hard shot 79 in the game by Andre Mannell from a close distance when the talented Max Griggs managed to make a qualified save. Plumstead's players were relieved. Plumstead's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Archie Proctor scored to the left of an out of position Max Griggs, making the score, 0-2. In the 92nd minute, Verne Canning ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Stephen Lovell was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Ethan Boyd sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rainhill's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
