In the 13th match minute, Sheffield Wednesday F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Philip Barrow to maneuver through the defense. Harry Whittaker hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 17th minute, Tod Bartlett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. shirebrook united's Tod Bartlett got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Simon Notley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Simon Notley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Simon Notley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Carl Dowrick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rob Kerfoot came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by shirebrook united's Jonny Sheehan. But to his dismay, Jonny Sheehan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Tod Bartlett took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Rob Kerfoot to make any attempt to save it. If Jonny Sheehan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Simon Notley had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rob Kerfoot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerome Afful, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s Simon Notley got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Simon Notley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Simon Notley scored 2-1 in the 54th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Carl Dowrick, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jerome Afful received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Rob Kerfoot tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonny Sheehan scored 3-1 in the 62nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rob Kerfoot, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 65 played minutes shirebrook united got a freekick which was hit by Roger Beecham. Simon Notley struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Carl Dowrick didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sheffield Wednesday F.C.. In the 75th match minute, Sheffield Wednesday F.C. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camron Pickard to maneuver through the defense. If Zaq Wright had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Philip Barrow hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. Byron Hutchins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 86 played minutes Sheffield Wednesday F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Mike Goacher. In the 91st minute Jerome Afful shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rob Kerfoot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 94 played minutes shirebrook united got a freekick which was hit by Tod Bartlett. 97 minutes into the game, shirebrook united's Jonny Sheehan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rob Kerfoot made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sheffield Wednesday F.C. players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for shirebrook united.
