Sutton in Ashfield
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Billy Turk started the match with the kick off. Jez Glanvill blasted a shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fraser Haugue having to make a save. Jez Glanvill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Fraser Haugue tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 11 minutes into the game, Mickey Foley was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Watford's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sutton in Ashfield AFC the free kick. In the 11th minute, Mickey Foley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Allan Strong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jez Glanvill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stuart Browne charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Stuart Browne the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Watford getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Stuart Browne hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Watford's zone, Jez Glanvill stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fraser Haugue came out of the goal and Jez Glanvill tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fraser Haugue stood somewhat misplaced when Jez Glanvill came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 27 minute. Allan Strong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fraser Haugue having to interfere. Watford's Fraser Haugue played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jez Glanvill in the 32nd minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When Allan Strong came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Sutton in Ashfield AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Allan Strong couldn't finish the play. If Allan Strong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 61st minute Allan Strong shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fraser Haugue saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Allan Strong might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Fraser Haugue. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Allan Strong ran back to his position shaking his head. If Allan Strong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Watford's Fraser Haugue played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jez Glanvill in the 67th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Allan Strong in the 81st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fraser Haugue saved Watford from getting behind. Allan Strong recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Allan Strong scored 3-0 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Fraser Haugue, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A collision led to Sutton in Ashfield AFC getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Ronan Bennett hit a great ball. Louie Maclean came free with the goalkeeper in the 91st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Vince Digby could save by the left post. 92 minutes into the match, Louie Maclean had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vince Digby. Sutton in Ashfield AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Louie Maclean was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Rupert Hornsby hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Max Ruddock was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 97th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal.
