With a left leg Al McCartney saved Fordingbridge FC from getting behind. When Donald Brazier fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Fordingbridge FC's protests and gave Donald Brazier a yellow card for diving instead. Donald Brazier kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. With splendid footwork Zack Hales arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-1 by the left pole in the game's 11th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zack Hales in the 15th minute of play forced Fordingbridge FC's goalkeeper Al McCartney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Basil Major had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Basil Major kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stan Shaw couldn't finish the play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joseph Currie made a kick off. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Zack Hales sped through Fordingbridge FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Al McCartney. The audience was convinced that Zack Hales's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Al McCartney was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. Al McCartney showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stan Shaw, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute.
