Botley FC's Doug Houghton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stuart Dobby in the 10th minute of play. A very good chance. 32 minutes into the match, Botley FC's goal looked a bit too open when Stuart Dobby came free, but Doug Houghton reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 33 minutes, Ralph Mawson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Colindale and the Botley FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Botley FC booed when FC Colindale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ralph Mawson didn't get a good kick on the ball. William Tabb made in the 42nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Stuart Dobby however managed to control. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

If Wesley Coyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ralph Mawson was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 54th minute. FC Colindale's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Ralph Mawson hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Stuart Dobby scored 1-1 in the 60th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Doug Houghton, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 67th minute Wesley Coyle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but William Ramstad saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 76 played minutes FC Colindale got a freekick which was hit by Gerry Smart. When Gerry Smart came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the FC Colindale fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gerry Smart couldn't finish the play. Robert Drury charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Robert Drury the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Botley FC booed when FC Colindale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robert Drury didn't get a good kick on the ball. Stuart Dobby's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Doug Houghton firmly grabbed it by the left post. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the FC Colindale players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
