Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Philip Tomkin kicked off to start the match. 4 minutes into the game, Drew Parsons was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Liverpool's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Horwich United the free kick. After a rather tough play, FC Liverpool's Drew Parsons got a free kick in the 4th minute. Leigh McCartney's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 6thth minute, Harvey Hewitt skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Horwich United's Larry Wybrow played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Philip Albright in the 14th minute of play. Leigh McCartney received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Harvey Hewitt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gareth Glanvill in the 19th minute of play forced FC Liverpool's goalkeeper Harvey Hewitt to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Gareth Glanvill's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Harvey Hewitt was relentless in the 22nd minute of the game. Philip Albright struck a weak shot in the 31st minute. Larry Wybrow didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Liverpool. If Leigh McCartney had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Louie Tubbs charged in rather forcefully in the 37th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Louie Tubbs the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 37th minute, Louie Tubbs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Harvey Hewitt stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gareth Glanvill's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Archie Davey during the 41st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Horwich United's Archie Davey got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Gareth Glanvill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harvey Hewitt having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gareth Glanvill was the one to do the kick off. Gareth Glanvill recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Harvey Hewitt didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gareth Glanvill went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After 60 played minutes FC Liverpool got a freekick which was hit by Drew Parsons. Gareth Glanvill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Harvey Hewitt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leigh McCartney in the 70th minute of play. Philip Tomkin kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Leigh McCartney managed to get in a good position for a shot. Horwich United's supporters rose to their feet, but Leigh McCartney was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Harvey Hewitt breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. FC Liverpool's Philip Albright got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 77 minutes into the match, Gareth Glanvill had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Harvey Hewitt. FC Liverpool's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gareth Glanvill was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 82nd match minute, FC Liverpool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dom Evans to maneuver through the defense. Dave Sheldon took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 83rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Harvey Hewitt. FC Liverpool's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Leigh McCartney recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Lewis Summerfield hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. FC Liverpool's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
