After a defensive mix-up in Canvey Island City's zone, Ronnie Horner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abraham Townsend came out of the goal and Ronnie Horner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ashley Mortlock kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Todd Aldridge in the 22nd minute of play forced Faithless FC's goalkeeper Stefan Bray to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Malcolm Moxey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Stefan Bray tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Canvey Island City's goalkeeper Abraham Townsend, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Ronnie Horner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 43 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Ronnie Horner sped through Canvey Island City's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Abraham Townsend. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Malcolm Moxey to strike the kick off in the second half. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stuart Shaw couldn't finish the play.
