After 9 played minutes Ickenham United got a freekick which was hit by Curtis Birch. If Ronnie Horner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ronnie Horner struck a weak shot in the 15th minute. Ron Holdsworth didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Faithless FC. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfred Bradbury during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Alfred Bradbury hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. After 19 played minutes, Ickenham United's Larry Rigg shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Stefan Bray came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Ickenham United reached it. Ron Holdsworth made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ronnie Horner in the 25th minute. After a rather tough play, Faithless FC's Lance Hardy got a free kick in the 27th minute. In the 33rd minute, Ickenham United's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Stuart Shaw fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ronnie Horner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ron Holdsworth having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronnie Horner got free with Ron Holdsworth in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Stuart Shaw made the kick off in the second half. Ron Holdsworth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stuart Shaw, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. 67 minutes into the match, Ickenham United's goal looked a bit too open when Stuart Shaw came free, but Ron Holdsworth reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronnie Horner in the 72nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ron Holdsworth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ronnie Horner recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ickenham United's zone, Stuart Shaw stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ron Holdsworth came out of the goal and Stuart Shaw tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 81 minutes into the game, Peter Bowler was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ickenham United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Faithless FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Ickenham United's Peter Bowler got a free kick in the 81st minute. If Ronnie Horner had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84thth minute of the game Stuart Shaw who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ickenham United's Ron Holdsworth was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Ron Holdsworth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stuart Shaw, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stefan Bray made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donny Pack in the 89th minute of play. Ronnie Horner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Ron Holdsworth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee ended the match the Faithless FC players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
