After 28 played minutes Northfields United got a freekick which was hit by Lenny Hargreaves. Phillip Coe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Sacha Allott tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Julian Perryman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jez Hanson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abraham Rhodes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carl Christie sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 40 minutes into the match, Player 2 FC's goal looked a bit too open when Julian Perryman came free, but Sacha Allott reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After a defensive mix-up in Player 2 FC's zone, Phillip Coe stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sacha Allott came out of the goal and Phillip Coe tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Abraham Rhodes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Jez Hanson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 88th minute Abraham Rhodes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jez Hanson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Phillip Coe might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sacha Allott. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Phillip Coe ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 94 minutes, Carl Christie managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Player 2 FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carl Christie was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Julian Perryman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 100th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Northfields United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
