SMB CITY's Zack Downes got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Julian Perryman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Northfields United's supporters rose to their feet, but Julian Perryman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doug Kidd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marty Tucker's late challenge caught a Northfields United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marty Tucker helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, SMB CITY's Marty Tucker got a free kick in the 36th minute. After recieving a nice pass, Northfields United's Andy Martin tried to score from far away in the 37th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Terry Bastow kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Phillip Coe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Doug Kidd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Perryman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Doug Kidd made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Julian Perryman in the 60th minute of play. Doug Kidd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julian Perryman in the 63rd minute of the match. Jez Hanson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perry Allanson in the 66th minute of play. Jez Hanson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Perry Allanson, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. The referee ignored Northfields United's protests and gave Eric Mead a yellow card for diving instead. The Northfields United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Northfields United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
