Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) SMB CITY's Zack Downes started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, SMB CITY's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Wardill came free, but Doug Kidd reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damian Shields struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Doug Kidd didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cottered. In the 7th match minute, SMB CITY was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Terry Bastow to maneuver through the defense. In the 10th minute, Paul Wardill left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cottered fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Paul Wardill managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cottered's supporters rose to their feet, but Paul Wardill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Doug Kidd breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Damian Shields came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Cottered fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Damian Shields couldn't finish the play. A hard shot 19 in the game by Damian Shields from a close distance when the talented Doug Kidd managed to make a qualified save. SMB CITY's players were relieved. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Doug Kidd successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. A collision led to SMB CITY getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Terry Bastow hit a great ball. Paul Wardill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Perry Allanson managed to get in a good position for a shot. SMB CITY's supporters rose to their feet, but Perry Allanson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carl Blakewell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zack Downes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carl Blakewell having to interfere. Paul Wardill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Damian Shields recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Doug Kidd showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paul Wardill, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Damian Shields recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Doug Kidd showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul Wardill in the 42nd minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Paul Wardill to make the kick off. In the 59th minute, Paul Wardill made a precise shot to the right of Doug Kidd. SMB CITY's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. Paul Wardill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paul Wardill in the 65th minute of play forced SMB CITY's goalkeeper Doug Kidd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 68th minute, Damian Shields got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paul Wardill received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Doug Kidd tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Doug Kidd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Wardill, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Cottered's Paul Wardill in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SMB CITY's goalie prevented a goal. In the 82ndth minute of the game Damian Shields who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SMB CITY's Doug Kidd was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Deon Holland managed to get in a good position for a shot. After a defensive mix-up in SMB CITY's zone, Damian Shields stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doug Kidd came out of the goal and Damian Shields tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Paul Wardill managed to get in a good position for a shot.
