But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richie Partridge couldn't finish the play. After 7 minutes of play, Frimley's Tosh Fairfax made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jim Munday was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Frimley's Stuart Button got a free kick in the 10th minute. Cambridge XXX's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Scott Lawson in the 12th minute. Cambridge XXX's Scott Lawson was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Andrew Holloway in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Roy Stewart sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 19 minutes, Louis Booth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cambridge XXX and the Frimley players grew even worse after the yellow card. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 34th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cambridge XXX's goalkeeper Jim Munday, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Frimley's Richie Partridge got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marc Blewett's late challenge caught a Cambridge XXX's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marc Blewett helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Frimley getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Marc Blewett hit a great ball. Frimley's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Roy Stewart 44 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-1. Jim Munday showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richie Partridge in the 48th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Roy Stewart made the kick off in the second half. After 57 minutes, Will Tompkins mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cambridge XXX and the Frimley players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tosh Fairfax succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 69th playminute. Frimley's Marc Blewett got his second yellow card of the match in the 73rd minute. The referee ordered Marc Blewett off the ground. Damion Hargreaves struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Andrew Holloway didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cambridge XXX. Vern Plumber struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Frimley played a much better game than Cambridge XXX and deserved their victory. The Cambridge XXX players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
