A collision led to Shadow Blasters getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Orson Vassell hit a great ball. 4 minutes into the game, Wesley Kerr cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Den Horseman was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Wilkins in the 7th minute of play forced Shadow Blasters's goalkeeper Den Horseman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 15 minutes, Samuel Story-Moore mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Shadow Blasters and the Oldham City players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Oldham City booed when Shadow Blasters was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Samuel Story-Moore didn't get a good kick on the ball. Glenn Kitchen recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 23rd minute, Oldham City's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Glenn Kitchen fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Oldham City's zone, Glenn Kitchen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gerry Birch came out of the goal and Glenn Kitchen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Glenn Kitchen got free with Gerry Birch in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Wilkins in the 30th minute of play forced Shadow Blasters's goalkeeper Den Horseman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Shadow Blasters's goalkeeper Den Horseman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Den Horseman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wesley Kerr in the 42nd minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jake Breckin to make the kick off. Wesley Kerr fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Den Horseman having to interfere. Joel Wilkins's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Den Horseman skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Wesley Kerr received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Den Horseman came out and tried to block the shot, but Wesley Kerr slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 58th minute. When the match clock showed 62 minutes, the score became 1-3 when Joel Wilkins sped through Shadow Blasters's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Den Horseman. In the 66th minute, Jake Breckin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glenn Kitchen in the 71st minute of play forced Oldham City's goalkeeper Gerry Birch to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ashley Childs took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Den Horseman. Den Horseman dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. In the 80th minute, Shadow Blasters's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Joel Wilkins fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Wesley Kerr received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Den Horseman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Den Horseman stood somewhat misplaced when Joel Wilkins came free in front of goal and shot 1-5 to the left of him in the 84 minute. After 88 played minutes Shadow Blasters got a freekick which was hit by Gary Guest. When Wesley Kerr came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Oldham City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wesley Kerr couldn't finish the play. Gerry Birch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Glenn Kitchen, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Quentin Mowlem during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Quentin Mowlem hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Glenn Kitchen spun around in front of the goal 95 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Oldham City's goal. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Oldham City had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
