Beijing guan f.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Denzil Pearch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jacob Gibson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 1-0 became the score in the 13th minute when Gareth Delamore elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Beijing guan f.C's Gareth Delamore slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jacob Gibson. That made the score 2-0 after 19 minutes of play. Barry Woodier showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tris Featherson, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The supporters of Saint Denis FC booed when Beijing guan f.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sammy Lane didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mick Garnett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Barry Woodier read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Beijing guan f.C's goal looked a bit too open when Sly Naylor came free, but Barry Woodier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Paddy Furlong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 48 minutes into the game, Mick Garnett cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Barry Woodier was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Mick Garnett to strike the kick off in the second half. Barry Woodier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sly Naylor in the 55th minute of play. Denzil Pearch struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Jacob Gibson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Beijing guan f.C. After a defensive mix-up in Saint Denis FC's zone, Denzil Pearch stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacob Gibson came out of the goal and Denzil Pearch tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Barry Woodier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mick Garnett in the 62nd minute of the match. Sly Naylor received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Barry Woodier came out and tried to block the shot, but Sly Naylor slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 65th minute. After a rather tough play, Saint Denis FC's Charlie Snowden got a free kick in the 69th minute. Beijing guan f.C's Barry Woodier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mick Garnett in the 72nd minute of play. 78 minutes into the match, Beijing guan f.C's goal looked a bit too open when Sly Naylor came free, but Barry Woodier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sly Naylor could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 84th minute of the match, but Barry Woodier made a huge save. In the 86th minute, Tris Featherson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Barry Woodier was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. 89 minutes into the match, Beijing guan f.C's goalkeeper Barry Woodier had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sol Hylton. After some careless play in the Saint Denis FC defense, Denzil Pearch kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jacob Gibson. The Saint Denis FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jacob Gibson should have stopped the shot. When the match was over Saint Denis FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Beijing guan f.C throughout the match.
