Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Wesley Kerr made the kick off and thus started the match. Dave Tompkins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Wilkins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gerry Birch showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Godsall in the 19th minute of the match. Wesley Kerr received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Dave Tompkins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joel Wilkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dave Tompkins having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wesley Kerr in the 27th minute of play forced Dunston's goalkeeper Dave Tompkins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 28 played minutes Dunston got a freekick which was hit by Andy Dale. Joel Wilkins could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Dave Tompkins made a huge save. Wesley Kerr sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Damian Godsall to make the kick off. Dunston's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ray Toovey in the 53rd minute. The corner led Dunston's Ray Toovey to fire away a dangerous shot which Gerry Birch despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. If Quentin Crtichell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oldham City's Gerry Birch played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damian Godsall in the 68th minute of play. In the 69th match minute, Oldham City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ashley Childs to maneuver through the defense. Quentin Crtichell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gerry Birch having to interfere. With a little luck, Oldham City's Gerry Birch got control of the ball when Quentin Crtichell tried to sneak it across the goal line. Joel Wilkins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
