The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ray Waterhouse sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 19 minutes into the game, Kismaayo FC's Karl Buxton nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dave Tompkins made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 22nd minute Andy Dale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Morley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Karl Buxton's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dave Tompkins was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. In the 36th minute, Damian Godsall left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Dunston fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. 39 minutes into the match, Dunston's goal looked a bit too open when Karl Buxton came free, but Dave Tompkins reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 39 minutes into the game, Karl Buxton cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andy Dale stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Andy Dale struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Matthew Morley didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dunston. A collision led to Dunston getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Jeff Easton's late challenge caught a Dunston's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeff Easton helped the player get up and apologised. In the 84th minute, Jeff Easton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Kismaayo FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Jeremy Palmer hit a great ball. Dunston's Gwyn Spann collided with an opponent after 91 minutes. He was hit so badly that he fractured his arm. Patrick Housham's late challenge caught a Dunston's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Patrick Housham helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Kismaayo FC's Patrick Housham got a free kick in the 92nd minute. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Kismaayo FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
