Bedlington Park

Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Bob Hughes made the kick off which started today's match. In a very dangerous position, a player in Bedlington fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 2nd minute. Penalty! Silvester Byrom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Seb Martin, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tyler Whittaker during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 11 played minutes Bedlington got a freekick which was hit by Tyler Whittaker. Leiston's Joel Helks got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 15 minutes into the match, Leiston's goal looked a bit too open when Bob Hughes came free, but Ash Beswetherick reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Seb Martin in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Silvester Byrom saved Bedlington from getting behind. 20 minutes into the match, Bedlington's Bob Hughes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ash Beswetherick narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Bedlington's Bradley Cheesman shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 25th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Ash Beswetherick but with some difficulty. Blair Wadham hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. 29 minutes into the match, Bedlington's goal looked a bit too open when Benji Ashton came free, but Silvester Byrom reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 30 minutes into the match, Seb Martin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Silvester Byrom. Bedlington's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Seb Martin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The supporters of Leiston booed when Bedlington was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Todd Kearney didn't get a good kick on the ball. Johnny Boatman, 36 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Silvester Byrom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joel Helks, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bedlington's Silvester Byrom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Helks in the 45th minute of play. Chris Moxey kicked well hit freekick during the 48th minute of the match.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Seb Martin to make the kick off. Tyler Whittaker sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bob Hughes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ash Beswetherick having to interfere. Seb Martin's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Silvester Byrom read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. The audience was convinced that Bob Hughes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ash Beswetherick was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tyler Whittaker in the 76th minute of play forced Leiston's goalkeeper Ash Beswetherick to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leiston's Ash Beswetherick played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tyler Whittaker in the 78th minute of play. Daryl Pool might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ash Beswetherick. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daryl Pool ran back to his position shaking his head. Bedlington's Silvester Byrom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Bedlington from getting a goal against them. Joel Helks who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 88thth minute tested the skills of Silvester Byrom when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Joel Helks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Leiston walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
