Tottenham Hotspurs's Giles Backhouse started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Daryl Pool sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bedlington's Silvester Byrom proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Bedlington from getting a goal against them. Tottenham Hotspurs's John-Paul Gunn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tyler Whittaker in the 13th minute of play. The supporters of Bedlington booed when Tottenham Hotspurs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pete Bridgewater didn't get a good kick on the ball.
