When the match had gone on for 4 minutes, Joel Helks took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for John-Paul Gunn to make any attempt to save it. A hard shot 9 in the game by Joel Helks from a close distance when the talented John-Paul Gunn managed to make a qualified save. Tottenham Hotspurs's players were relieved. John-Paul Gunn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Seb Martin in the 10th minute of the match. Leiston's Joel Helks got a good chance for a goal in the 12th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rick Friebe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Rick Friebe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. John-Paul Gunn acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 43rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Gwyn Housham. Pete Bridgewater kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Joel Helks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. John-Paul Gunn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Seb Martin made a kick off. In the 56th minute Giles Backhouse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ash Beswetherick saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Helks in the 61st minute of play forced Tottenham Hotspurs's goalkeeper John-Paul Gunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Giles Backhouse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ash Beswetherick having to interfere. When the match clock showed 67 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Rick Friebe sped through Leiston's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Ash Beswetherick. Joel Helks fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Gunn having to interfere. John-Paul Gunn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Helks in the 79th minute of play. Joel Helks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rick Friebe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Ash Beswetherick tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 83rd minute, Benji Ashton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Leiston getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. David Cooper hit a great ball. Pete Bridgewater hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. David Cooper charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed David Cooper the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Tottenham Hotspurs booed when Leiston was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Cooper didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ash Beswetherick took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Giles Backhouse, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
