Silvester Byrom showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Keiran Ashton in the 3rd minute of the match. In the 4th match minute, Bedlington was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Basil Buxton to maneuver through the defense. Matthew Buckley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tyler Whittaker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sacha Ashton during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 14th minute, one of Bedlington:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Bedlington. Keiran Ashton's late challenge caught a Bedlington's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Keiran Ashton helped the player get up and apologised. In the 18th minute, Keiran Ashton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eddie McAleer hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. A collision led to Phoenix FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Gareth Jordan hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Keiran Ashton in the 24th minute of play forced Bedlington's goalkeeper Silvester Byrom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bob Hughes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bob Hughes in the 31st minute of play forced Phoenix FC's goalkeeper Matthew Buckley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 33rd minute Chris Moxey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matthew Buckley saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bob Hughes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Bob Hughes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 55 played minutes Phoenix FC got a freekick which was hit by Laurence Gates. Syd Hehir took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 60th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Silvester Byrom. Bedlington's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jamal Crouch struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Silvester Byrom didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Phoenix FC. An unexpectedly hard shot by Keiran Ashton in the 63rd minute of play forced Bedlington's goalkeeper Silvester Byrom to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute of the match Phoenix FC got a corner. Bedlington's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Laurence Gates ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alf Piercy was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. If Bob Hughes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tyler Whittaker's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Matthew Buckley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Bob Hughes made a precise shot to the right of Matthew Buckley. Phoenix FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Jamal Crouch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Silvester Byrom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Phoenix FC booed when Bedlington was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chris Moxey didn't get a good kick on the ball. Keiran Ashton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Silvester Byrom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Keiran Ashton's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Silvester Byrom read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 89th minute of play. The Bedlington players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Phoenix FC from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
