Spectators: 6896 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1745, VIP seats: 151) John-Paul Gunn came out of the goal in the 7th minute to try and stop a shot by Bedford City's Warren Tate. But to his dismay, Warren Tate quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 17th minute, Bedford City's Garth Blewett seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Garth Blewett the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Bedford City protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Garth Blewett had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 24 minutes into the game, Travis Ingram was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tottenham Hotspurs's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Bedford City the free kick. After 28th play minutes Warren Tate shot 1-2, a short shot which went by John-Paul Gunn and just under the crossbar into goal. Warren Tate struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. John-Paul Gunn didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Bedford City. An unexpectedly hard shot by Warren Tate in the 36th minute of play forced Tottenham Hotspurs's goalkeeper John-Paul Gunn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 39 played minutes Tottenham Hotspurs got a freekick which was hit by Robin Bator. John-Paul Gunn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Warren Tate, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 41 minutes into the match, Nigel Lawton notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Tottenham Hotspurs's John-Paul Gunn. John-Paul Gunn was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 44th match minute, Tottenham Hotspurs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bruce Starr to maneuver through the defense. 45 minutes into the match, Bedford City's Bob Warnett broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. When Warren Tate came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Bedford City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Warren Tate couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Warren Tate to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Bedford City's goalkeeper Ian Marsden, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 60 minutes, Warren Tate managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bedford City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Warren Tate was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 63rd minute, Giles Backhouse ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ian Marsden was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. 68 minutes into the match, Tottenham Hotspurs's goalkeeper John-Paul Gunn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Warren Tate. Harvey Lennon might have been able to make a better finish in the 69th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over John-Paul Gunn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Harvey Lennon ran back to his position shaking his head. Bruce Starr kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Warren Tate scored 2-4 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of John-Paul Gunn, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Denzil Linford charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Denzil Linford the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 79 played minutes Bedford City got a freekick which was hit by Denzil Linford. Bedford City's Ian Marsden played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giles Backhouse in the 83rd minute of play. Tottenham Hotspurs's John-Paul Gunn proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Tottenham Hotspurs from getting a goal against them. After 87 played minutes Tottenham Hotspurs got a freekick which was hit by Bruce Starr. After recieving a nice pass, Bedford City's Bob Warnett tried to score from far away in the 88th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Warren Tate fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without John-Paul Gunn having to interfere. In the 92nd match minute, Bedford City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nigel Lawton to maneuver through the defense. Nigel Lawton kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. When Tottenham Hotspurs's Giles Backhouse in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Bedford City's goalie prevented a goal.
