Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Kurt Symons started the match with the kick off. In the 6th minute Bob Hughes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lance Rayner saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Conway Gardens's zone, Bob Hughes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lance Rayner came out of the goal and Bob Hughes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lance Rayner was a little too slow when Bob Hughes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 10th minute. The score was now 1-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Marc Moon during the 14th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Conway Gardens's Marc Moon got a free kick in the 14th minute. Kurt Symons sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Silvester Byrom showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dean Elvins, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. The audience was convinced that Kurt Symons's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Silvester Byrom was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Silvester Byrom came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Conway Gardens's Dean Elvins. But to his dismay, Dean Elvins quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After 28 played minutes, Conway Gardens's Noel Bastow shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Silvester Byrom came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Conway Gardens reached it. Bedlington's Silvester Byrom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kurt Symons in the 39th minute of play. Lance Rayner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bob Hughes in the 40th minute of the match. In the 46th match minute, Conway Gardens was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dean Elvins to maneuver through the defense.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bob Hughes to make the kick off. Lance Rayner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bob Hughes in the 62nd minute of play. 64 minutes into the match, Conway Gardens's goal looked a bit too open when Tyler Whittaker came free, but Lance Rayner reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Bedlington's Malcolm Hayes got a free kick in the 64th minute. Conway Gardens's Kurt Symons got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Dean Elvins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Dean Elvins managed to get in a good position for a shot. Conway Gardens's supporters rose to their feet, but Dean Elvins was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silvester Byrom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Conway Gardens's Kurt Symons got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kurt Symons received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Silvester Byrom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Daryl Pool hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. A collision led to Bedlington getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Basil Buxton hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Kurt Symons managed to get in a good position for a shot. Conway Gardens's supporters rose to their feet, but Kurt Symons was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Silvester Byrom breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
