Calvin Lister received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Stew Blake tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Calum Mudd kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Stew Blake came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Cheadle FC's Ashley Hickson. But to his dismay, Ashley Hickson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Rick Parrott fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barrie Cullen having to interfere. FC Royal Brigade's Stew Blake played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Calvin Lister in the 28th minute of play. The long shot by Nath Merrill in the 29th minute really tested Barrie Cullen's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Laurence Hawkins kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Barrie Cullen acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 32nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Sol Leyburn. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calvin Lister in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stew Blake saved FC Royal Brigade from getting behind. Charlie Whitman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 38 minutes into the match, FC Royal Brigade's Lance Townsend sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Barrie Cullen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Stew Blake stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ashley Hickson's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. After 43 minutes, Rick Parrott mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Royal Brigade and the Cheadle FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Rick Parrott hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After the first half Cheadle FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Calvin Lister made a kick off. Darius Aldridge took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 56th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Stew Blake. FC Royal Brigade's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Billie Wiley charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Billie Wiley the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 58 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Royal Brigade! Stew Blake stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Calvin Lister's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. When Gareth Ashton fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Royal Brigade's protests and gave Gareth Ashton a yellow card for diving instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Calvin Lister in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Stew Blake saved FC Royal Brigade from getting behind. Barrie Cullen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Charlie Whitman in the 74th minute of play. If Ashley Hickson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th minute, Calvin Lister got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Calvin Lister fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stew Blake having to interfere. Ashley Hickson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stew Blake stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ashley Hickson's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. An unexpected shot in the 87th minute by Ashley Hickson got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Ashley Hicksons short, quick shot in the 89thth minute got Stew Blake to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Calvin Lister struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Stew Blake didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cheadle FC. When the match was over Cheadle FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Royal Brigade throughout the match.
