Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000,
Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Kevin Jewson started the match with the kick off. After 2 minutes, Carlton Emmerson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Long Hanborough AFC and the Everton FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 2 played minutes Long Hanborough AFC got a freekick which was hit by Carlton Emmerson. A collision led to Everton FC getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Blair Beerman hit a great ball. Lawrence Moss showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jeremy Holdsworth, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 9 minutes into the game, Gerry Trunks was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Long Hanborough AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Everton FC the free kick. In the 9th match minute, Long Hanborough AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gerry Trunks to maneuver through the defense. Mickey Spencer kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. In the 14th minute, Kevin Jewson made a precise shot to the right of Lawrence Moss. Long Hanborough AFC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. When Neil Young came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Long Hanborough AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Neil Young couldn't finish the play. After having played for 23 minutes, Neil Young managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Long Hanborough AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neil Young was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kev Foley in the 24th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Brian Cordingley prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Neil Young managed to get in a good position for a shot. Long Hanborough AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Neil Young was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Brian Cordingley breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kevin Jewson in the 32nd minute of play forced Long Hanborough AFC's goalkeeper Lawrence Moss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 36 played minutes Long Hanborough AFC got a freekick which was hit by Mickey Spencer. Neil Young could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Brian Cordingley made a huge save. In the 46th minute, Neil Young left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Long Hanborough AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1.
Jeremy Holdsworth's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lawrence Moss read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Long Hanborough AFC's Pat Messenger got a free kick in the 56th minute. After 57 played minutes Jeremy Holdsworth could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-2 into the left cross. If Jeremy Holdsworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Long Hanborough AFC's zone, Jeremy Holdsworth stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lawrence Moss came out of the goal and Jeremy Holdsworth tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Lawrence Moss showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kevin Jewson, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Brian Cordingley took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kev Foley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 72 played minutes Everton FC got a freekick which was hit by Gareth Ainge. If Neil Young had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gareth Ainge's late challenge caught a Long Hanborough AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gareth Ainge helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Everton FC's Gareth Ainge got a free kick in the 76th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neil Young in the 82nd minute of play forced Everton FC's goalkeeper Brian Cordingley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Neil Young had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brian Cordingley didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Neil Young went, in the 87th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. In the 91st minute, Kevin Jewson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Neil Young had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neil Young sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Everton FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Long Hanborough AFC had controlled the match.
