Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jeff Selby to make the kick off. Donald Dobbs could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Simon Odell made a huge save. Donald Dobbs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Simon Odell having to interfere. Simon Odell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeff Selby, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute, Jeff Selby fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. In the 68th match minute, Wem AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zane Tomkin to maneuver through the defense. 73 minutes into the match, Jeff Selby dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Simon Odell, 0-2. If Donald Dobbs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patrick Goldthorpe struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Wally Avery didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wem AFC. The audience was convinced that Jeff Selby's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Simon Odell was relentless in the 86th minute of the game.
