Barmby on the Marsh

Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Allan Barton made the kick off which started today's match. Chip Gilchrist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 2nd minute. Anthony Selby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 11 minutes into the game, Chip Gilchrist recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Anthony Selby. Chip Gilchrist showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 13 minutes into the match, Barmby on the Marsh's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Barton came free, but Oscar Clist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Chaz Goodwick fell near the penalty area in the 14th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barmby on the Marsh's protests and gave Chaz Goodwick a yellow card for diving instead. Chaz Goodwick hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. If Joshua Hammond had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Chip Gilchrist kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Anthony Selby. That made the score 2-0 in the 20 minute of play. After having played for 24 minutes, Joshua Hammond managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Erith's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joshua Hammond was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Miles Le Tissier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony Selby having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Erith's zone, Chip Gilchrist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anthony Selby came out of the goal and Chip Gilchrist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anthony Selby made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when Miles Le Tissier sent off a good shot on target. Joshua Hammond sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gavin Easter kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chip Gilchrist in the 44th minute of play forced Erith's goalkeeper Anthony Selby to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Chip Gilchrist made a kick off. Chip Gilchrist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony Selby having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Miles Le Tissier in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anthony Selby saved Erith from getting behind. Erith's Anthony Selby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miles Le Tissier in the 57th minute of play. Oscar Clist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Barton in the 59th minute of play. Miles Le Tissier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony Selby having to interfere. 65 minutes into the match, Erith's goal looked a bit too open when Miles Le Tissier came free, but Anthony Selby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gavin Easter charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gavin Easter the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Erith's Gavin Easter got a free kick in the 66th minute. Miles Le Tissier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Anthony Selby having to interfere. 78 minutes into the match, Barmby on the Marsh's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Barton came free, but Oscar Clist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Oscar Clist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Allan Barton in the 79th minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, Erith's goal looked a bit too open when Chip Gilchrist came free, but Anthony Selby reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 86 minutes into the match, Barmby on the Marsh's goal looked a bit too open when Allan Barton came free, but Oscar Clist reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chaz Goodwick hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Erith's Anthony Selby played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Chip Gilchrist in the 92nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Erith's zone, Chip Gilchrist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Anthony Selby came out of the goal and Chip Gilchrist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Allan Barton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oscar Clist having to make a save. In the 96th minute, Curtis Tonkin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 97 minutes, Allan Barton managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Erith's supporters crossed their fingers, but Allan Barton was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Barmby on the Marsh's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
