Stephen Stamer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damon Flower in the 14th minute of play. When Johnny Swift fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored NinjaSkrtels's protests and gave Johnny Swift a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Thornbury booed when NinjaSkrtels was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Johnny Swift didn't get a good kick on the ball. Damon Flower's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Stephen Stamer read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 17th minute of play. Gav Daly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Stephen Stamer having to interfere. Stephen Stamer didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 24th minute, which inside left pole to 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Thornbury's zone, Noel Fowler stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joseph Brindley came out of the goal and Noel Fowler tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Thornbury getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Gav Daly hit a great ball. After 45 played minutes NinjaSkrtels got a freekick which was hit by Johnny Swift. Damon Flower received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Stephen Stamer tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Damon Flower to strike the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Damon Flower managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thornbury's supporters rose to their feet, but Damon Flower was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stephen Stamer breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 62nd minute, Gav Daly got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damon Flower in the 76th minute of play forced NinjaSkrtels's goalkeeper Stephen Stamer to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The corner went over the outstretched arms of NinjaSkrtels's goalie and right to Graeme Kelly. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. NinjaSkrtels's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Thornbury's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gav Daly was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
