Vern Delamore took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerome Hopton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Red Bull's Shawn Pitts got control of the ball when Phil Nancy tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Brooks hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. After having played for 35 minutes, Fraser Read managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Co Durham FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fraser Read was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Co Durham FC's Vern Delamore played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vince Pope in the 40th minute of play. In the 43rd minute of the game, Matthew Lennon landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Archie Green charged in rather forcefully in the 44th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Archie Green the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After having played for 46 minutes, Vince Pope managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Red Bull's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vince Pope was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Fraser Read made the kick off in the second half. With 54 minutes on the clock, Pierre Alsop commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. After 54 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Red Bull! In the 56th minute there was a penalty for Co Durham FC. Jude Featherstone stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Shawn Pitts. 2-1. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Shawn Pitts prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Shawn Pitts made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fraser Read in the 88th minute of play. Fraser Read sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Co Durham FC's Phil Nancy got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fraser Read received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 99th minute. Shawn Pitts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Phil Nancy came up free with the goalie in the 100th minute, the Co Durham FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phil Nancy couldn't finish the play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Co Durham FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Red Bull had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
