Phil Nancy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Barney Burley having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Dane Doughty had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vern Delamore. Co Durham FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dane Doughty was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Vern Delamore successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a defensive mix-up in Co Durham FC's zone, Dane Doughty stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vern Delamore came out of the goal and Dane Doughty tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Dane Doughty had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute of the match, Dane Doughty got a very nice opportunity to score, but Vern Delamore was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 23rd minute, Archie Green hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Co Durham FC's goalkeeper Vern Delamore, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vern Delamore was out of position in the 44 minute of play, and Albert Myers capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Albert Myers really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0. With a little luck, Co Durham FC's Vern Delamore got control of the ball when Dane Doughty tried to sneak it across the goal line.

Dane Doughty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Vern Delamore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albert Myers fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vern Delamore having to interfere. In the 64th minute Dane Doughty shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vern Delamore saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Myers's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vern Delamore read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. Dane Doughty sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Brad Childs kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Dane Doughty struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Vern Delamore didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester United. Marlon Butterworth hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute, Phil Nancy got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vern Delamore showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dane Doughty, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Vern Delamore stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dane Doughty's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. When Albert Myers came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Manchester United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albert Myers couldn't finish the play. Dane Doughty received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Vern Delamore tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Co Durham FC's Andrew Batty got a free kick in the 91st minute. Fraser Read's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Barney Burley read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Manchester United had played much better football throughout.
