Carlton Booker received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Matty Dixon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Louie Jefferson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brandon Hudson in the 22nd minute of play. Brandon Hudson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 28th minute, Brandon Hudson made a precise shot to the right of Louie Jefferson. Newark's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. If Alf Mumford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Louie Jefferson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brandon Hudson, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Matty Dixon didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alf Mumford went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After having played for 39 minutes, Tom Strongman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carterton AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tom Strongman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 42 minutes into the match, Carterton AFC's goalkeeper Matty Dixon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alf Mumford. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Brandon Hudson was the one to do the kick off. Tom Strongman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Patrick Grantham kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. 53 minutes into the match, Newark's goalkeeper Louie Jefferson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tom Strongman. After 58 minutes, Chesney Alsop mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Newark and the Carterton AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 57 minutes into the game, one of Newark:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 63rd minute Eric Lansdell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matty Dixon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chesney Alsop took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 69th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Matty Dixon. Carterton AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Carterton AFC's Matty Dixon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eric Lansdell in the 76th minute of play. Matty Dixon stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eric Lansdell's shot from short distance in the 79th minute. Brandon Hudson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Newark's Alf Mumford in 83 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Matty Dixon guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Louie Jefferson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brandon Hudson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Newark's Patrick Grantham got a free kick in the 85th minute. Newark's defense didn't have a chance, in the 87th minute, when Brandon Hudson scored to the left of an out of position Louie Jefferson, making the score, 1-3. 96 minutes into the match, Newark's goal looked a bit too open when Brandon Hudson came free, but Louie Jefferson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Carterton AFC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
