The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Roger Heslop showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Brandon Hudson in the 9th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Brandon Hudson in the 10th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Roger Heslop prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tom Francis kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 16th minute, Stewart Hibbert managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ferencvárosi TC's supporters rose to their feet, but Stewart Hibbert was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matty Dixon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Matty Dixon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stewart Hibbert in the 18th minute of the match. If Brandon Hudson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brandon Hudson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, Ferencvárosi TC's Junior Ward sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Matty Dixon narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Carterton AFC's Brandon Hudson got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Carterton AFC booed when Ferencvárosi TC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Shaun Barfield didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute, Denis Clark hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roger Heslop made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tom Strongman in the 42nd minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Stewart Hibbert was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Junior Ward cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Matty Dixon was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Shaun Barfield kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. After 64 minutes, Tom Francis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carterton AFC and the Ferencvárosi TC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ferencvárosi TC booed when Carterton AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tom Francis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Ferencvárosi TC's zone, Tom Strongman stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roger Heslop came out of the goal and Tom Strongman tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tom Strongman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roger Heslop having to interfere. In the 77th minute, Tom Strongman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Roger Heslop came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Carterton AFC's Brandon Hudson. But to his dismay, Brandon Hudson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 89thth minute of the game Tom Strongman who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Ferencvárosi TC's Roger Heslop was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 91st minute, Tom Strongman left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Carterton AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. If Junior Ward had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Carterton AFC had won after a very even match.
