Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Eric Lansdell made the kick off which started today's match. Alf Mumford's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 3rdth minute, Ian Mawson skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Ian Mawson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alf Mumford in the 5th minute. After a rather tough play, Strapping Young Lads's Johnathon Ploughman got a free kick in the 5th minute. Alf Mumford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 7th minute. Ian Mawson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Louie Jefferson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ash Callery, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 12th minute of the match Dean Curtis sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Louie Jefferson skillfully saved the ball. If Alf Mumford had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alf Mumford sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 18 minutes into the match, Eric Lansdell dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ian Mawson, 1-0. Ash Callery fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Louie Jefferson having to interfere. If Ash Callery had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Strapping Young Lads's Ian Mawson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Strapping Young Lads from getting a goal against them. Eric Lansdell struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Ian Mawson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newark. Rio Heywood walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Zack Haywood during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Patrick Grantham was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 39th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Eric Lansdell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Ian Mawson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Max Cheeseman fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Strapping Young Lads's protests and gave Max Cheeseman a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd match minute, Strapping Young Lads was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Max Cheeseman to maneuver through the defense. After 46 played minutes Newark got a freekick which was hit by Patrick Grantham. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Alf Mumford took the ball and in the 54 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ian Mawson. Ian Mawson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Louie Jefferson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Louie Wendon in the 59th minute of play. If Eric Lansdell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Newark's Louie Jefferson got control of the ball when Nat Timmins tried to sneak it across the goal line. Eric Lansdell struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Ian Mawson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newark. Eric Lansdell fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Mawson having to interfere. In the 73rd minute Eric Lansdell shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ian Mawson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eric Lansdell in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ian Mawson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 80 minutes in the game, Nat Timmins fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Louie Jefferson having to interfere. Eric Lansdell recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Newark's Alf Mumford in the 84th minute got a chance for a shot 84th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Strapping Young Lads's goalie prevented a goal. Alf Mumford received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ian Mawson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 94th minute, Eric Lansdell made a precise shot to the right of Ian Mawson. Strapping Young Lads's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. When the referee ended the match the Newark players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
