Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sam Merrill in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guy Pilkington prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sam Merrill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guy Pilkington having to interfere. birmingham bummers's Sam Merrill got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Blair Pack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, Horsham AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Sam Merrill came free, but Guy Pilkington reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guy Pilkington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sam Merrill in the 20th minute of play. When Blair Pack came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the birmingham bummers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blair Pack couldn't finish the play. 46 minutes into the game, Rodd Goodall was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Horsham AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave birmingham bummers the free kick. Rodd Goodall hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Rodd Goodall stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Sam Merrill managed to get in a good position for a shot. birmingham bummers's supporters rose to their feet, but Sam Merrill was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guy Pilkington breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Blair Pack had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Sam Merrill in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Guy Pilkington saved Horsham AFC from getting behind. Blair Pack blasted a shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Guy Pilkington having to make a save. 67 minutes into the match, Sam Merrill dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Guy Pilkington, 0-5. Sam Merrill sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 93rd minute, Sam Merrill fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Guy Pilkington, passed just outside the right post. After having played for 96 minutes, Blair Pack managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. birmingham bummers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Blair Pack was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
