If Howard Rain had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Horsham AFC's Guy Pilkington got control of the ball when Jeffrey Dumpleton tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 12th minute, Matt Turner left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Skelmersdale City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Matt Turner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guy Pilkington having to interfere. Teddy Bowden recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Matt Turner fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guy Pilkington having to interfere. Matt Turner could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Guy Pilkington made a huge save. Matt Turner might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guy Pilkington. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matt Turner ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Skelmersdale City booed when Horsham AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodd Goodall didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th minute, Matt Turner got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guy Pilkington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teddy Bowden in the 29th minute of play. 32 minutes into the game, Skelmersdale City's Teddy Bowden nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Guy Pilkington made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. Skelmersdale City's Teddy Bowden got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Horsham AFC's Guy Pilkington got control of the ball when Teddy Bowden tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Teddy Bowden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guy Pilkington made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teddy Bowden in the 49th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Guy Pilkington took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matt Turner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Horsham AFC's Guy Pilkington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teddy Bowden in the 57th minute of play. 63 minutes into the game, Matt Turner cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Guy Pilkington was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rex Renwick kicked well hit freekick during the 65th minute of the match. Teddy Bowden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Guy Pilkington tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Teddy Bowden's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Guy Pilkington read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. If Teddy Bowden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Guy Pilkington showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teddy Bowden in the 77th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, Rodd Goodall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Horsham AFC's zone, Matt Turner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guy Pilkington came out of the goal and Matt Turner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Teddy Bowden struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Guy Pilkington didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Skelmersdale City. After a defensive mix-up in Horsham AFC's zone, Matt Turner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Guy Pilkington came out of the goal and Matt Turner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Teddy Bowden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guy Pilkington didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Matt Turner went, in the 90th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. Horsham AFC's Guy Pilkington played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teddy Bowden in the 97th minute of play. Skelmersdale City's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
