In the 35th minute Johnny Eldridge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Al Newland saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Al Newland stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Robin Young's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Jay Bramhall showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Richie Boland, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Al Newland didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ivan Gilchrist went, in the 97th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score.
