After 35 played minutes Helsby United got a freekick which was hit by Marc Rayner. 37 minutes into the game, Jez Buckley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Louis Roche was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 39th match minute, Catford City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfie Maxwell to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jez Buckley in the 45th minute of play forced Helsby United's goalkeeper Louis Roche to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Helsby United's Louis Roche proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Helsby United from getting a goal against them. Helsby United's Louis Roche played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter Senior in the 93rd minute of play. The Helsby United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Catford City were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
