In the 3rdth minute of the game Jez Wallbank who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but The Oxford Blues's Ruben Key was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 14th minute, Nigel Sills got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Marty West had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Jez Wallbank had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in The Oxford Blues's zone, Jez Wallbank stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruben Key came out of the goal and Jez Wallbank tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Battle AFC's Ivan Le Tissier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wesley Duff in the 30th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in The Oxford Blues's zone, Jez Wallbank stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ruben Key came out of the goal and Jez Wallbank tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 38 minutes into the match, Marty West notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of The Oxford Blues's Ruben Key. Ruben Key was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Battle AFC's Ivan Le Tissier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Battle AFC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marty West in the 44th minute of play forced The Oxford Blues's goalkeeper Ruben Key to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dominic Parsons struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Ruben Key didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Battle AFC.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Wesley Duff to strike the kick off in the second half. Nigel Sills fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ivan Le Tissier having to interfere. With a little luck, The Oxford Blues's Ruben Key got control of the ball when Jez Wallbank tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nigel Sills in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ivan Le Tissier saved Battle AFC from getting behind. Nigel Sills received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Ivan Le Tissier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 72nd minute, Jez Wallbank got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Battle AFC's Marty West in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye The Oxford Blues's goalie prevented a goal. 75 minutes into the game, Ged Greenwood was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The Oxford Blues's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Battle AFC the free kick. Ged Greenwood kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. When Marty West came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Battle AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marty West couldn't finish the play. Marty West might have been able to make a better finish in the 84th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ruben Key. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marty West ran back to his position shaking his head. Dominic Parsons sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 86th play minutes Marty West shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Ruben Key and just under the crossbar into goal. Ruben Key made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jez Wallbank in the 89th minute. After a rather tough play, Battle AFC's Phil Henderson got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Jez Wallbank took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ruben Key. Ruben Key dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3.
