Ebley City's supporters rose to their feet, but Barney Adamson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The tension between the Ebley City and the Exeter players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Ebley City getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lewis Rigg got free with Sol Simms in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Barney Adamson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Kevin Watson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Dan McDonald came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Ebley City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dan McDonald couldn't finish the play. 48 minutes into the match, Exeter's goal looked a bit too open when Barney Adamson came free, but Kevin Watson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Exeter defense, Barney Adamson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kevin Watson. The Exeter fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kevin Watson should have stopped the shot. The Exeter players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ebley City were winning 0-1.

Dan McDonald could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Kevin Watson made a huge save. Lewis Rigg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Stan White hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Barney Adamson received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kevin Watson came out and tried to block the shot, but Barney Adamson slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 90th minute. Dan McDonald's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Kevin Watson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 93rd minute of play. Ebley City's Sol Simms played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ben Murray in the 95th minute of play. If Dan McDonald had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ebley City's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
