The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marty West stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jez Wallbank did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-1 to the left of a surprised Sol Simms 59 minutes into the match. Battle AFC's Ivan Le Tissier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barney Adamson in the 91st minute of play. After 93 minutes, Harry Edworthy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ebley City and the Battle AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The Battle AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Battle AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
