In the 11thth minute of the game Stan Cain who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maine Road FC's Pedro Mansfield was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Jude Reddington received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Kevin Watson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 15 minutes into the game, Ben Murray was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Exeter's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maine Road FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Exeter's Ben Murray got a free kick in the 15th minute. Jude Reddington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kevin Watson having to interfere. In the 18th minute, Ben Murray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Exeter's zone, Jude Reddington stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kevin Watson came out of the goal and Jude Reddington tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Maine Road FC's Pedro Mansfield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lewis Rigg in the 25th minute of play. Pedro Mansfield stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stan Cain's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Hugh Duckworth kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 32 minutes, Stan Cain put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Pedro Mansfield. After some careless play in the Maine Road FC defense, Stan Cain kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Pedro Mansfield. The Maine Road FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Pedro Mansfield should have stopped the shot. Lewis Rigg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Pedro Mansfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match was over Exeter could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Maine Road FC throughout the match.
