The Cave
Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Marcus Courtney kicked off to start the match. With an all-out effort, cavefc's Terry Paine threw himself towards the right post 3 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Robin Way, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, cavefc's Allan Seagrave got a free kick in the 5th minute. Andy Dawson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dale Dearden. cavefc's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Terry Paine made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lance Ellis in the 7th minute. Niall Coleman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Dale Dearden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Marcus Courtney's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dale Dearden was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. When Travis Prutton came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the cavefc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Travis Prutton couldn't finish the play. If Robin Way had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dale Dearden showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Niall Coleman, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After 22 played minutes cavefc got a freekick which was hit by Dale Billington. When Marcus Courtney came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Ickenham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marcus Courtney couldn't finish the play. Terry Paine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robin Way in the 30th minute of play. A collision led to Ickenham getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Joseph Button hit a great ball. cavefc's Robin Way got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Robin Way recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Marcus Courtney's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dale Dearden was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. Marcus Courtney struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Dale Dearden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ickenham. In the 46th minute, Robin Way reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Terry Paine. The goal made the score 1-0.

Travis Prutton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 58th minute Robin Way shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Terry Paine saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Terry Paine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Travis Prutton in the 59th minute of play. Terry Paine didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Robin Way went, in the 71st minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. Dale Billington charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dale Billington the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 77th minute, Dale Billington hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Travis Prutton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Terry Paine tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Terry Paine took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robin Way, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 85 played minutes Ickenham got a freekick which was hit by Joseph Button. Ickenham's Marcus Courtney got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Travis Prutton in the 96th minute of play forced Ickenham's goalkeeper Terry Paine to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. cavefc had won after a very even match.
